Bach/At Orgelbuchlein/ The Album Singers/Argo ZRG 776-8 (3LP’s) Stereo. Booklet included with the pictures and music. Peter Hurford, playing the organs by Ronald Sharp; Eight soprano’s, Four tenor’s/ Five Alto’s and Four Bass. Bach planned the Orgelbuchlein as if it had been a hymnbook; as a collection of 164 preludes on seasonal and general hyms. He had planned the work from the outset in such a way that there was no room for any prelude longer than two small pages, and the collection demonstrates only five ways of developing chorales.
