PRICE REDUCTION: NOS Ulyanov 6c33c-b tubes; having recently sold my BAT REX Monoblocks, I have 17 spare 6c33c-b tubes for sale; when I sold the REX amps, I was surprised to see that I had 17 spares. Actually, I used to replace tubes every year, not because they needed it, but more about my paranoia that I wasn't getting the best sound I could get. Anyway, after I sold the amps, I sent the tubes to TC Tubes for testing at $10/tube, not to mention $100 round trip shipping. So, the point is that at the price I'm asking, I believe these tubes are a bargain if you can use them, especially since they all test "as new". I am asking $30/each. Price is firm. Buyer pays shipping and Paypal fee, unless paying friends and family.
Email from TC Tubes LLC:
"I've the tubes tested and boxed back up. Here's a summary: These can all be sold as testing "as new". They all test the same as other 6C33 tubes I've tested in the past. Again, this is a strange type for the AT1000 tester due the the normally very large current draw used in the spec sheet test. The AT1000 and other testers can't run a tube a 500mA so they run higher voltages and lower current draw. The main score to pay attention to is the bias voltage. It is expected to be -100v. Most of your tubes landed in the -70v to -100v range. Again, this seems like it indicates out of range or out of spec tubes, but it really doesn't I've tested a lot of this type and this is the normal range these tubes land in. The main usefulness of having the scores is to prove that the tubes do work and to aid in matching them up in pairs or quads or whatever. Incidentally, the AT1000 tests running higher voltages and lower current draw than the spec sheet is also in good agreement with how these tubes get used in audio circuits. So, these tests are very good for matching these types of tubes up since they are being treated appropriately for most audio circuits that use them. The original design of the 6C33 was for pass devices in regulated power supplies. In that application, the lowest plate voltage and highest current draw were what was wanted. That's not what we want in audio circuits."
