After owning excellent vintage tube components for many years, I decided that I wanted to downsize and simplify my audio life. I read many reviews of various integrated amplifiers and that is how I discovered Wells Audio. Every review of Wells Audio gear that I read was stellar. So I  asked Jeff Wells  to build me an integrated amp which would be up to the task of replacing my vintage gear.

This is that amp.
This special edition Majestic can more than hold its own against many other-some much more expensive integrated amplifiers. The base Majestic sells new for about $3500. I've got at least $5200 invested in this one with all the upgrades.

Please read the letter from Jeff Wells which details the extensive factory upgrades Wells Audio performed to this essentially one-off Majestic. There's a photo of the letter in the image gallery.

I sent the amp to Wells Audio this past February for a complete check up as preparation for selling. The amp needed nothing.

Reason for selling: I now have a Luxman 550AXii which I purchased because I wanted the convenience of the built-in MM/MC phono stage, balance, and tone controls. Another reason for selling is that I'm looking for a full-function integrated tube amplifier- one with balance and tone controls, and with a decent phono stage.

I've been asked how I'd compare the Majestic to the Luxman 550AXii and I'd say that they do sound rather similar, with the Wells being a bit "warmer" and a bit more "tube-like."  The Wells runs in Class A most of the time unless volume is cranked up.  The Lux is completely Class A, so the Wells is somewhat cooler to the touch.  The soundstage of the Wells is more holographic in my room than that of the LUX.

Hope this helps.

I am proud of my perfect feedback here on Audiogon, as well as on eBay, and USaudiomart. Buy with confidence.

I'm looking for a serious buyer who understands how good this amp is. No Trades, please. However, I will be happy to entertain serious offers.

There are a number of glowing reviews (no pun) about Wells Audio online, some specifically about the entry-level Majestic.  In fact, one reviewer liked the Base-Level Majestic so much he said something to the effect of "if the Level 1 Majestic is this good, I can only imagine how good a Level II would be."  My paraphrase, but the essence of what he wrote.

One other thing: I apologize for the frequent "ON" and "OFF" of this ad.  It seems a hacker has been playing nasty games on my computer. I think the problem has been solved.

My price is based on what I have invested in this amp, how good this darn thing sounds, and what It would cost if one were to commission Wells to build another like it.

Thanks for looking- please let me know if you have any questions.
