Cable Elevators - Vintage Industrial Insulators Large Heavy Tempered Glass set of EIGHT. Nice!

For sale is a set of 8 heavy clear tempered-glass -Made in USA- Cable Elevators that I had in storage for the last six years that I actually forgot I had. The last time I offered a set of these elevators was back in 2016. 

No price inflation. This set is being sold for same price the last set sold for in 2016.

These elevators are actually a matched set of mid-century industrial clear-glass power-line cable-insulators produced in the early 1950s by the Owens-Illinois’ Kimble Glass Works operation at Hemingray’s Glass insulator division.  They were originally used on utility poles to insulate 13,500 volt power-transmission lines from grounding or shorting through the pole or supporting structures.  No doubt, they have tremendous dielectric isolation properties.
 
These cables elevators not only work well to optimize cable function, they fully complement and complete the appearance of your entire system.

As vintage insulators go, these are collector grade with no cracks, chips, or missing pieces. This set shows easily in an exceptional 8/10  but due their 60+ year-old vintage, I am officially listing them in 7/10 condition.

These elevators are cast of clear tempered-glass but due to mid-century  manufacturing  processes, there are be slight variances in tint from piece to piece.

These vintage elevators are about 4-1/4" Tall x 5-5/8" wide and can easily support cables up to about an inch (25mm) in diameter.  They are perfect height to raise your speaker cables or long interconnects off the floor for optimum performance.  

These heavy glass elevators are pretty tough but each will be individually packaged and then double boxed with lots padding to survive any transport hostilities.  Of the many vintage elevators that I’ve sold both domestically and worldwide, each and every one has arrived safely to its destination without breakage.   Please see my feedback.

Once this set is gone, I will not be selling any more since my suppliers have long ran out of these years ago. In general, vintage insulators of the correct types and quality high enough to be sold here on Audiogon, in sufficient quantities to make a set of cable elevators, have become nearly impossible to find.
