For sale the iconic TEAC X-2000R Reel-To-Reel Player/Recorder, the one that is used in today’s big dollar modern players. This model is truly special, purchased at an estate-sale auction from the original owner who never used it, as it was one of several models he owned. As you can see, this is a time capsule find, that comes with all of its original packaging and paper work (including the original receipt). For those that value provenance and understand the value, this opportunity is the best you can get. Note, purchased new in 1992 and represents the final run of the X 2000 series. So you are getting the newest model from this vintage lineup.
The TEAC X-2000R is an auto reverse 4-track 2-channel player, that can run in stereo or mono. It has TEAC’s commercial Cobalt Amorphous Record & Playback heads and it’s driven by a dual-capstan drive that is servo controlled. Technically it has 2 playback, 2 record, and 2 erase heads to provide both recording and playback in any direction. It can use both small and large size reels up to 10.5”, and can play at both the 3.75 and 7.5 ips speeds. The 2000R is feature rich, as it has dbx noise reduction, an auto-locator function to find sections easily, pitch control, auto spacer, tape lift, fine bias control and more.
We sell and broker many reel to reel players, and we have a handful of the best players out there ( STUDER, Revox, TASCAM, OTARI, etc.). With that in mind, this TEAC X-2000R is a special find and all technical bench checks are excellent and it plays brilliantly.
Whether you are looking to get into reel to reel playback/recording, or looking for a new old stock (NOS) to modernize, this is a sure bet that comes with documented Provenance.
