Description:  You are bidding on the above captioned CD changer.  This was the top of the line changer in the (?) last iteration of the well-regarded Sony "ES" series.  It's built well:  some describe it as "built like a tank."  The sound was impressive for the time.  I quite liked it.

One source describes this as:  "A stereo hi-fi 5 disc carousel changer compact disc player housed in a metal case with wooden side panels [...] High Density Linear Converter, Digital Servo System, 5 Disc."  Specifications are nearly identical to the CDP-C701ES and CDP-701ES.  Apparently the primary difference is the DAC:  PCM58, rather than Burr-Brown.  It's also said to have extensive copper shielding, not present on the lesser items in the lineup.

Outputs include RCA for fixed and variable line out, an optical output connector for digital output, and a standard stereo headphone jack.  There is volume control for the 'phones.

Measurements: ca. 43 x 37.5 x 12 cm; ca. 21#

Condition:  I purchased this new in 1996.  The manufacture date on the label on the device is January 1995.  It was well cared for in an (admittedly low budget) audiophile home.  It has been stored in climate controlled conditions since being taken out of my system some years ago.  I have just tested it, and both the analog and digital outputs work as they did when new.

I'd conservatively rate it at 7/10 on the Audiogon scale.  There is an argument to be made that it actually reaches the level of 8/10.  There's a bit of visible change in appearance on the top, but I don't see any mars or scratches or the like anywere else.

I'm selling it as we downsized our residence and I sadly don't have space any longer for most of my old gear.  Cosequently, this changer needs an appreciative new home.

Shipping:  I'll be shipping in the original box.  Buyer pays actual shipping.  The device will have the transport lock screw and key in place for shipping.

Thanks for looking.
