The Nakamichi Dragon was made from 1982 to 1993 and is the result of the innovative pioneering spirit of the founder of the company. In an era where digital audio technologies predominate, the Nakamichi Dragon delivers astonishing sonic quality, producing recordings that are virtually indistinguishable from the original. DISCRETE 3-HEAD TECHNOLOGY Nakamichi’s acclaimed Discrete 3-Head Technology employs physically separate record and play heads. Unlike typical "sandwich" or combination heads, the record and play head gaps are independently aligned, assuring extended frequency response and wide dynamic range. Combined with the proprietary precision-laminated Crystalloy record and play heads, this technology extracts the last ounce of performance from today’s advanced cassette tape formulations. ASYMMETRICAL DUAL-CAPSTAN DIFFUSED-RESONANCE TRANSPORT Nakamichi’s innovative tape transport mechanism uses different diameters (and, hence, rotational speeds) for the two capstans and flywheels. This, plus the use of special vibration-absorbing materials in the head-base assembly, attenuates and randomizes resonances, so that their effects are far less audible. Moreover Nakamichi Dragon, because this transport ensures exceptional tape travel precision and tension uniformity, the play head is fitted with a unique pressure pad lifter. The pad never contacts the tape; thus, head wear, tape skewing, and "scrape flutter" are dramatically reduced. Can be cherished for years to come as the factory parts and services are available from multiple facilities. It has never been used anywhere but in my home--never in any kind of recording studio or for other professional use. The unit is clean inside and out and is from a smoke-free home.

It is rare to find one of these Nakamichi Dragon tape decks in the condition this is and with such little usage in its past. The serial number is 25601, highly desirable last production runs with improved design and reliability 

Please take a look at the detailed pictures..... All in all I would rate the cosmetics of the unit a very strong 7 to 8 out of 10. The heads have a lot of life left (sorry they are very hard to get a good picture of).
