Description

I stared this hi-fi journey in about 1983 when I got a Pink Triangle turntable. Linns were all the rage so I had to get a PT! The original setup was with a Mission 774 tonearm and Shure M97HE cartrige. That first system also consisted of an A&R A60 amplifier, Yamaha KX320 tape deck and Kef Cantor II loudspeakers. On the journey to where I am now I went through brands such as Arcam, Audiolab, Moth, Audio Technica, Marantz and Rega. I suppose the design goal was pretty simple. To repoduce vinyl or CD in a way that sounded as close to the original as possible from a system that was easy to listen to and not too hard on the the living arrangemets....life is full of compromises.

I think I've probably arrived at the end of my journey with the current system. While there will better systems out there I think I've now crossed well beyond the law of diminishing returns........at least until something breaks or wears out. Then I suspect I'll be scouring Audiogon for the same piece if it still exists!
