Description

Aloha, I've had this system since the mid 90's, and I'm the original owner. It took me a couple years or more untill I found the right components that sounded right to my ears.I have been a music lover and audiophile since my early teens. It's a great hobby besides going to the beach to go surfing. Tencc.

    • Theta Digital DSPro Progeny

    • Tyler Acoustics Linbrook Signature System
I was looking for a new speaker system for some time now, to replace Mirage M-7si's which served me well. I've auditioned some great speakers like B&W, Dynaudio, Monarch Audio and others to name a few. Being from Hawaii, we dont have too much to choose from, so I decided to go against my usual way of listening to a system first, and go out on a limb and buy a speaker system sight unseen. Being that Tyler Acoustics were having great reviews and he uses state of the art parts and materials I made a leap of faith. Boy am I glad I did. Ask any Tyler Acoustics speaker owner and they'll tell you it's an awsome speaker. From the build quality, appearence and of course the sound, this is a great speaker system. Ty himself is great to deal with. The Mirages are now used as front speakers in our home theater.
    • Audio Research Litz Line
I went to Audio Research for my speaker cables. It's an execellent sounding cable
    • Audio Research Litz Link
I wanted to keep my system simple yet get great sound, so I think I achieved that by going to Audio research for my interconnects.
    • Illuminations D-60 Digital Interconnect
Execellent sound, reference quality digital IC.
    • BPT BPT-2 Ultra
Balanced line conditioner that doesn't get in the way of the music. Real black background, which lets the music flow.
    • BPT PPC
Audiophile power strip was needed because I moved my system to a larger listening room. Sound stage is even bigger in this room.
    • Oyaide swo-xxx
Audiophile duplex outlets that replaced the Hubbell outlets in my dedicated 20a line.

The Tyler Acoustics Linbrooks really sound great in my larger listening room. I'm glad I got these speakers, can't beat the price with all the great parts and real wood veneer (I choose rosewood). Most importantly, they sound great. If your are in the market for speakers, check out Ty.

System edited: Sorry about the dark pictures of the speakers. When I moved the system to a bigger room The Tylers fitted right in. It took a while for them to break in, but when they did, the sound is just amazing. I also added a BPT PPC because the location of my 20a dedicated line was at a longer distance from the previous room. Also added were BPT L-10 power chords and Oyaide swo-xxx audiophile duplex outlets. Finally vibration damper and stainless outlet cover from Dedicated Audio.

I don't consider myself a tweeker, but I just got new tubes from AR with tube dampers. The dampers are supposed to help eleminate vibration with the end result, better sound. I also changed all my stock power cables to Signal Cables. The cable aren't broken in yet, but when I first put them in, it didn't sound all that good untill half hour or so of listening. After about an hour the sound seemed to losen up. It's starting to sound good but it still needs to be broken in.

I already had the M7s when I had them mated with Adcom equiptment. The upper regions were too harsh for my ears so I upgraded to AR. I wanted to see if I could get the best of both worlds by combining a tube preamp for the warmth and sweet mids, and a solid state amp for the power and control of the lower regions, and I think I got it. I don't know how the OM series of speakers sound, but the M7s sounded good to my ears. Actually I wanted M3s but they were too big for my room. I love the AR CD-2. Its great with all kinds of music, but I usually listen to jazz or classical music with the CD-2. With the Thetas, I listen to rock music. It has a slight more punch in the bottom region. overall, the CD-2 has a deeper and bigger soundstage and it sounds sweeter. Next, I would like to upgrade my DAC, but thats later on. Aloha, Tencc
