I think I’m finished with room treatments. Maybe 1x4 vertically behind the speakers, but I don’t want to make the room too “dead”. All are DIY using 2x4 Corning 705 Fiberglass board (wear a mask and goggles) with transparent cloth. I helped my wife who did a great job putting the cloth on frames (1”x2” #2 pine strips)
Well, here’s my attempt at DIY sound panels. Sounds much better than empty walls. A lot less echo/reverberation. I have enough material left to make 2- 1’x4’x2” panels. Only question is…. Directly behind each speaker or 4” to either side of the center panel. I guess I could just put them in each location and see which position, if any, sounds better but rather than put holes in the wall, I’d seek knowledgeable advice. I realize all rooms are not the same, but your experience and advice are appreciated
mjcmt. Thanks for the comment. Yes, all black components and rack. Unassuming. Ordered fiberglass panels today. Already have fabric and will make a trip to the lumber yard for spruce 1x2s for the frames. Really sounded great in previous home in VA. But room was much bigger 26x14x8 compared to 15x13x12. New room has echos. Hence the need for many panels. Hopefully it will help. But I don’t want to make the space dead
Jond. Thanks. Just moved in. And set up system. Yes. I’m going to make acoustic panels behind speakers and behind component rack and 1st reflection point. Rear wall has many needle points
