Thinking of putting together this system and wanted to get thoughts from the forum.I will probably bi-amp the speakers later using a Rega Maia stereo amp on the mids/lows and using the amp in the integrated to drive the tweeters. thanks for your comments.
I would wait for the latest from Rega. I no longer have an all Rega setup but it was fun when I had it. I've moved to a smaller room and have a nice budget setup with Harbeth P3ESR speakers at it's heart. If you are lookig for good buys on established Rega products either of the setup's you outlined would work...except you are missing a piece on system 2.
I'm at a point in my audio equipment life that I want a one brand system for lps, cds and radio. I don't want to fool w/ matching and tweaking equipment so I'm thinking of a Rega system instead of a Linn or Naim to keep cost down.
What do you think of these 2 Rega systems? 1) P1 Performance Pack, Apollo, Mira3, Radio3, RS1 2) P3-24/Elis2, Saturn, Cursa3, Radio3,RS3
How much more do I improve by stepping up from #1 to #2?
Nice system. I wouldn't bother bi-amping with the R5's. They're are easy enough to drive with the Mira. But if you do bi-amp it might be worth finding a pair of used totem Model One's or other Totems as they have very good synergy with Rega. After that I'd forget about upgrading and buy music instead !
See Budget Minded, Rega=Great Synergy on a Budget. I have a similar system but with the Apollo not the Saturn. I honestly believe that the Saturn is overkill for the Mira/R5 combo, not that I'd mind having it...lol! I also have the P3 with Elys2 cartridge. I use Chord Chorus between the Apollo and the Mira and Chord Silver Sirens on my other 2 sources. I am using the Chord Rumour 4 speaker cable. I really love my Rega system but I doubt that it is to everyones taste. Cheers!
