Description

This is my home theatre and 2 channel system. I live in a condo so acoustics aren't the best. the room open into the dinning room to the left. Despite that the magnepans do a wonderful job filling the room with detailed sound. The PS3 upgraded itself into a 3d bluray play so that was great. I also have Pangea AC-9s on the amps and Marantz. As it turns out all of my sources including cd have video to it. So a av receiver/processor is needed. its not the most high-end or elaborate system but it works wonderfully for my needs and my budget.

Any thoughts and suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

Thank you

    • Cambridge Audio DacMagic
I have it connected to the Apple TV. Key to its abilities is Adaptive Time Filtering (ATF) upsampling technology developed in conjunction with Anagram Technologies of Switzerland. This technology converts 16-24 bit audio data to 24 bit / 192kHz dramatically improving musical reproduction. A 32 bit Digital Signal Processor (DSP) eradicates jitter which is especially effective with hard disk playback from the AppleTv.
    • Emotiva UPA-1
The UPA-1: Affordable elegance. 350 watts RMS @ 4 ohm (0.1% THD). Balanced inputs, i love this amp. I wasn't sure if i wanted to go with mono blocks but after hooking them up i was.. um.. hooked. the stereo separation and clarity is outstanding!
    • Marantz SR-5005
This receiver does it all. 3D HDMI switching, and offers direct pass through for my CD or AppleTV. For now this will do very well for me for a long time. Check out Marantz's website for a list of all the features. http://us.marantz.com/us/Products/Pages/ProductDetails.aspx?CatId=AVReceivers&SubCatId=0&ProductId=SR5005
    • Sony Playstation 1
A vintage PS1 sounds good enough for now. I have the PS2 wireless remote for it and all the commands programmed into my Logitech remote.
    • Apple AppleTV version 1
a decent digital music and music video server.
    • TiVo Premiere
HD TiVo also a easy option for pandora.
    • sony Playstation 3
I'm only used it as a Blu-ray player, was also upgraded into a 3d Blu-ray player as well. I'm very happy with what i though would be a temporary unit.
    • Mircosoft Xbox Hd-Dvd
Yeah i have a HD-DVD player. i liked the format and at the tie the price was right. The nice thing is these days i can snach up many 1080pHD movies for less than a dollar. it works.
    • Pangea AC9
Best cables for the money hands down. They supplying the power to my emotiva amps.
    • Pangea P-100
the Pangea Audio P-100 is a new highly regulated power supply created by legendary audio designer Peter Madnick exclusively for Pangea Audio.
    • Sonicwave .5m Glass TOSLINK
A Half Meter Glass toslink cable. this cable has made the bigest change in my system and converted me to a believer in quality cables. Glass over plastic fibers is all the difference.
    • Magnepan SMG
I'm using a restored set of SMG's. they sound amazing! My father-in-law has a pair of 1.6s. we took the grill cloth and cherry trip pieces from them and fit it to the SMG's.
    • Revel M-20
I'm using a single Revel M-20 as a center. its the best speaker i have, and i only have one. it works very well and to my surprise blends very well with the Magnepans.

I know there isn't any vinyl yet. i haven't gotten to that stage yet. i want to work out all the kinks with CD and Digital before i start investing in another format.
