Description

I recently upgraded my speakers to Audio Note AN-K/SPe and I am in love. They are very efficient with fabulous imaging, soundstage, and bass response. They are a match made in heaven with my Synthesis Shine. Thanks to Deja Vu Audio in Virginia for helping me out! I will be upgrading my DAC and cables shortly to maximize the performance of the Audio Notes.

I also moved the stereo against a different wall so I could spread the speakers out a bit more. The room is not ideal for acoustics but it is the best I can do.

Bought a beater Garrard 301 on Ebay. Came from a smoking home and needed substantial work. Deja Vu Audio disassembled the entire turntable, cleaned everything thoroughly, replaced worn/broken parts, installed an Audiosilente idler wheel, sourced the new plinth/tonearm/cartridge, and it sounds phenomenal!!! The Micro Seiki has been moved to the basement.

like your system. Understand the issues of space and family. Am currently running the Ortofon 2 Black in my VPI Scout 1.1. Lovely cartridge!

Looking to upgrade the Grado Gold to a more detailed cartridge. The Brio requires a MM or a high output MC cartridge. I would rather not add a step up transformer unless I absolutely have to. Any recommendations? I have heard good things about the Ortofon Black MM cartridge and was leaning in that direction but I am still open to other ideas.

System edited: Stereo is now assembled on a Salamander stand. A Furman Elite-15 DM i power conditioner handles power for everything but the Synthesis Amp (per the advice of a local hifi store). Sounds awesome!

Thanks! I guess I will skip the bluetooth and go the Sonos route.
I recently picked up a Pro-Ject Tube Box S preamp as well.

I tried Triton 7 with
-45wpc ultralinear integrated (RITA-880S)
-ESS-9018 DAC (Yulong D-18)
-Gustard U12
intense dynamics and slam

I tried comparing flac playback between:

-iphone 5 running VLC
-Mass Fidelity Relay (bluetooth)

vs

-Intel NUC running JR20
-Gustard+Yulong

Bluetooth was so inferior you'd have to chuckle. The extreme dynamics and deep blacks were gone. Think 192kbps mp3.

I also tried these:
1. Cambridge 540 coax fed by Gustard
2. Cambridge 540 analog fed by Mass Fidelity
3. Cambridge 540 coax fed by Mass Fidelity

with #1 easily sounding the best you might conclude that #3 would sound better than #2, but #3 was the worst
