    • Homebrew ML TQWT
6" single driver transmission line speakers. sound very nice. they use Fostex FE166E's and stand just above 5'3". frequency response is roughly 38-19 with a 94 db. eff.
    • Homebrew Battery-Powered 11 Watt Amp
based on the Sonic Impact TA2024 T-Amp, with moderate modifications. sounds good.
    • Counterpoint SA-3
bought on a-gon for $365. a nice tube pre-amp for its price. includes phono stage.
    • Rega Planar 3
not yet modded. soon to be addressed with motor upgrade.
    • Rega RB-300
purchased with turntable. not yet modded.
    • Sumiko Pearl

    • Philips ??? DVD Player
bought this cheap. actually not horrendously horrible player. used for cd's as well.

not the best receiver, but at least still gives some options... and it's better than cable.
    • CyberHome ??? DVD Burner Set Top
Again, very cheap dvd burner. not really special. allows me to record family guy and good eats.
    • Homebrew Bumblebees

Oh almost forgot...sounds like I'll be rectifying my need of input tubes for the Conrad in the next couple days with a pair of NOS late 60's RCAs (long as Ken comes through...I just can't find any Telefunkens I can afford) and I should have a fresh tube set for my 243 by end of next week....so, yea, we ought to a/b the Counterpoint with my JJ here on the Kharms...whaddaya say?

Man, that Counterpoint was a good score! Can't wait to do some tube rolling. I bet with the forthcoming speaker upgrade (however it ends up) and maybe a Blue Circle Noisehound or 606 you will be a happy camper for a while!

Congrats and welcome to tube world ;)

Well you've managed to tweak more sound of this rig than I'd ever expected, right down to the spikes and mass loading experimentations. It's been a great lesson in reaching the full potential of modestly priced gear not to mention the limits of diminished returns. I've spent thousands on cabling and gotten good sounds; you've spent pennies and some sweat on your cabling and also gotten good sounds. Dammit lol. The Bumblebees were a nice surprise and the twisty stand in particular made quite the improvement.

New speaks will rock and from there you'll have a ball modding! A tube phono stage would super rule and be DIYed no problem.

Oh a little history on that Yamaha fwiw, was bought spring 99, sold for about 800 bucks, and drove a Clements Audio di/PSB surround rig. Pooed on the similar offerings-- Sony, etc in terms of brightness/harshness though I agree that in this rig the surround processing is all you really need out of it. Any ideas what you might do for a next line stage?

You are off to a great start, good luck on your path!
