Description

The decision to go to Law school has been an expensive one, the HIFI I had, had to be sold to pay for the move from Phoenix to Moscow Idaho. So I down graded to cerwin vega speakers and a marantz receiver as a (preamp) and a NAD 2200pe Amp. After a semester of this I had to have something better, however living on loans doesn't really allow much extra for a hobby like this, so I had to improvise. I bought Dali Evidence 370's on craigslist with stands for 300, so Im selling the marantz and the cerwins for 300 to pay for the cost of the Dali speakers. My uncle lent me the McCormack Line Drive because he has moved on to better stuff years ago.

I have never liked the idea of monitor speakers, my experience has always been monitor speakers sound small and boxy, and it seemed you always need a subwoofer. Then I always felt like the timing from the sub and the monitors was a little off. But I decided to take a chance on these, the seller only had them powered by a yamaha receiver, and they sounded ok, but not amazing. So I took them home by wired them and played them with the NAD 2200pe and the McCormack and oh man they sounded so detailed, buy not fatiguing just the right amount of detail. As for goals, my cables are the weak link in they system, the speaker cables are decent I bought some silver cable off ebay for pretty reasonable and there ok, but not great. The interconnects are those cheapy crap ones you get free from the dish network guy and they are muddy and gross. So Im going to buy some older audioquest interconnects, I wish I could afford the diamonds from years ago, but instead Ill likely wind up with some audioquest quartz or Turquoise. I probably have a total of 600 bucks in this entire set up, goes to show you can rock a hifi with limited coin.

If you like Silver cables, I would heartily recommend the Clear Day Speaker and IC cables.
BTW, $600 is a good sum if you are buying used. Don't go by the price, go by the sound and you will be much happy!
