Description

I'm trying to build a simple, effective DAC-based/passive amp system. It sounds pretty sweet now, especially since my speakers are finally breaking in.

I can spend about $1000 on upgrades. Recommendations?

Ok...no suggestions so far...so I will list some of the ideas I have (in no particular order)...

A) sell the ADCOM amp and the attenuators and replace 'em with an integrated amp

B) upgrade to thicker, higher quality speaker cables

C)upgrade the amp

D)upgrade the speakers

E) buy something to better regulate the electricity (one of the PS Audio ?)

F) buy a T amp

Other information: I live in a small, but oddly shaped loft apartment. The walls are thin, so I am interested in improving only the quality of the sonic details, not the overall power of the system.

Last night I was listening to Radiohead's "15 Step" both from mp3 and then from an EAC flac recorded file (on external drive) and I couldn't detect a difference between the two. I should be able to hear differences in the qualities right?

A couple other random tidbits. Im from the US, but currently live and work in Argentina (voltage 220). I will buy the stuff in the US and then take it down with me so everything I buy has to be under 50 lbs.
