Description

My first foray into tube audio. Actually, my first foray into what you could actually call 'audio'. I am in love with my ST70, and I am rather fond of my PAS3.

I need some speakers, and I would like ot eventually get some vinyl going.

I am looking for some suggestions for good entry level speakers and after that, a decent turntable rig.

I don't have my soundstage fully developed yet. There is a nice start, but I can't separate everything out yet. So, my next goal is to look into some full range speakers that can get me going in the right direction.

    • Dynaco PAS-3
good old PAS3 purchased here on Audiogon. I removed the tone controls, recapped the entire system.
    • Dynaco Stereo 70
I got this when I bought a stero cabinet at a thrift store. I ripped the cabinet open and found an ST70 with a broken rectifier. $30 later I had a fully funcitoning st70. I have recapped the entire system. I took out the selenium rectifier and replaced all the resistors. I also switched the stock sockets over to ceramics with siler alloy contacts.
    • Paradigm CC-70
    ggggg
    • Audio-Technica USA AT-105
New, but I need to fill a system around it.
    • POS POS YArdsale 1
some POS direct drive plastic nonsense. I need to get a new rig, but I have to upgrade my paradigm monitors first
    • DIY MAgnet Wire
These actually sound better than most IC I have tried on my system. These are actually very clear
    • Dynaco FM-3
I haven't got around to recapping this guy yet. I also found out that the radio stations in SW Virgnia aren't the best. The unit does sound good on my steup though.

Don't know what part of SW Virginia you're in but WNCW (92.9)out of Boone, NC is an excellent station. Format is mostly Americanna/Bluegrass and well worth a listen.

Btw, nice score on all your Dynaco equipment.

Well done! You can't beat the pas3, fm3, st70 combo. Now look for Dynaco's latest version A25xl speakers made in Denmark. Truely wonderful speakers!
My experience is Kimber 4tc speaker wire and pbj interconnects will bring out detail you never heard before in a classic tube sounding system.
And you can't go wrong w/ a vintage AR or Thoens TT either.
Keep it up.
