Jlamb, I love the Tyler Acoustic Taylos. Last night, energized by the activity in this thread, I spent some time repositioning my speakers and had a great listening session. The Tylers disappeared and the soundstage really improved in both depth and width, and this was a strong suit of my system before I made the positioning adjustments. Set-up is critical in getting the best sound out of these speakers. To be fair, though, I also have to give credit to the Odyssey Stratos and Tempest as major contributors to satisfying sound of my rig last night. An “assist” goes out to Klaus Bunge of Odyssey who told me that the Stratos/Tempest and Taylos were a good match sonically and, in my opinion, he was dead-on right on that. I have seen good reviews of your JA RM7 sigs but have never had an opportunity to audition them. What are your impressions of your speakers? By the way Raytheprinter, I listened Sade (Best of) last night and was reminded how much I enjoy her music. Thanks for the suggestion. After that I listened to Keb Mo’s CD (Keb’ Mo’) and that was great too. It is a must have blues album, imo. PC

very nice system, how do you like those Tylers? I've often wondered how they compare to the likes of my JA RM7 sigs.

Hello Pcgiffin,Im fairly new too.I started out with real cheap cables am slowly replacing them with better ones, they seem to tune your system,I had to decide what I didntlike about each component and try to find a cable that works toward ideal sound.I used a slightly warm IC between CDand preamp, and one that was pretty neutral between TT and preamp, since TT is a bit on warm side, and CD is a little forward,I dont know if thats the best way to do it, seems to work for me so far,,

Thanks. Cables are a work in progress. I have a pair of AudioQuest Python cables between my source and preamp and inexpensive Radio Shack (Fusion?) cables between my preamp and amplifier. I really need to change the latter. My speaker cables are 10+ year old Monster Cable (heavy/thick copper) and I am considering replacing them with Audience Conductor bi-wire cables or other cables in the $150 to $350 price range soon. I haven't really had the opportunity to experiment much with cables so I am a novice as far as this is concerned. As for the sound of my system, I would describe it as warm and engaging. For monitors, the Taylos provide good bass response in my small listening room (13 x 13). The music has a nice balance (cohesiveness) across frequency ranges and has a reasonably wide and deep soundstage. My system is not foward and does lack detail, but with source and cable upgrades I hope to achieve a better sense of air, image placement and detail without losing the warmth and musicality it presently possesses. I am new to this hobby and am still trying to learn what my priorities and listening preferences are. For music, I listen to male/female vocals (singer/songwriter stuff), classic and modern jazz (Coltrane, Davis, Ray Brown, Arturo Sandoval, Dave Koz, Chris Botti, Brian Culbertson), acoustic guitar arrangements, 70's and 80's rock, and classical. A pretty broad base of music types, but no hard rock, rap, top 40 dance hits. If you have any suggestions to improve my system, or know of any interesting musical selections that I should consider, please let me know. Thanks again for your interest in my system.
