I have been working on this system for several years now, starting with an old Yamaha receiver and polk speakers. I just recently seperated some two channel items (CD Player) off into a dedicated 2 channel system. My next addition will be a nice 7-channel amp to run the theater and the HK will be retired to run zone 2 (outdoor speakers) from the Ref 21.
I have now added SignalCable PCs to the Arcam, B&K and Acurus. Best $190 that I have spent on gear. Yet another rung up the performance ladder. Next up will be some speaker cables, probably $150-300 range.
Try some new amps. You could probably sell them for a lot and get something with a little less power that is cleaner, smoother and more refined. Your speakers can really appreciate some better amplification. Sell the acurus and HK to buy a single 5, 6, or 7 channel amp with some style (rotel, anthem or ?....)
