Description

Well for the most part this is a Canadian system. The Anthem preamp and 2 channel Amp are made in Ontario by Sonic Frontier and the Energy Veritas 2.3s, 2.0 and my Energy ES-10 sub are also made in Ontario via API. The Adcom is American and the Rega and Cambridge is UK.

This is my second HT system and is a significant jump from my first wich was based on a Onkyo 5.1 receiver and Sony DVD player. It comprised of small bookshelf Energy Pro 4.5 for mains and Pro .5 for surrounds and the ES-10 sub. The only I kept from my original Dolby Pro Logic system is the Sub and the rears. I find my sub to be adequate for the most part in my room, it's a gutsy little 10 incher that works very well for now. By no means is this a "high-end" system compared to some, but for my budget it's pretty much as high end as I can go at this time. I was originally going in for a receiver but got "convinced" into seperates. I don't regret it but it was only because at that time I had an unexpected inflow of disposable income so I took advantage of it.

I have some room acoustic issues that I am trying to solve at this time because since I moved my system from a tiny area to a larger and more appropriately sized area in my basement, I got suddenly robbed of all my bass from my Mains. It is the strangest thing, when I am standing 4 feet away from the veritas I get amazing bass, when I sit in my listening position about 12 feet away I can't hear any bass, it all goes away. I was extremely dissapointed and quite depressed about the whole thing, I put in 15K of gear and it sounds like those 500 dollars HT in a box from wal mart !!.. well maybe not to that extreme, but it's not that far off.

So I'm working on some Bass Traps as a start.. it's a work in progress but I have to figure something out because my current enjoyment of my system is next to nothing.. and that's a shame given this equipment..

So I guess that would be my "upgrade" before anything else, fix the room. Nothing else would sound better anyways since the room would affect any other speakers to..

Cheers to all and Good' Day Eh !

Hi fellow Canuck!

I too have a mostly Canadian system (see Budget Systems). We should be proud of the quality of our Canadian Audio companies.

With regards to your lack of bass, it sounds like your current seating position is at one of the "nulls" in your room resulting in no bass. My suggestion is to reposition your seating closer until you are away from the null.

I hope this helps. Cheers! Carl

To up your CDN ante, try throwing in these CDN made components:
* Foundation Research line conditioners from Campbellville ON
* Oracle or Sim Audio from Montreal QC
* Totem speakers (or in my case FAB Audio)
* Wyetech tube amps / preamps from Ottawa ON

cheers,

I like it! I have a pair of 2.3's and I had a adcom 7400 that I used to biamp the fronts. I've changed out the amp twice now (moved to a parasound 2205) but the speakers are the same. I really like them!
