Description

I'm finally at the point where WAF has limited my constant tinkering. I'm really pleased with the system, and will likely keep it as-is until we move and I have some more space to work with.

System edited: Just upgraded the Music Hall 9.1 to a VPI Classic 2 and I do not regret it one bit. This is a fantastic piece of equipment. Hope to add pics of the whole system soon.

Thanks! I love the Cornwall IIIs - they are extremely detailed and the mids and highs are silky smooth with amazing tone (pushing with all tubes, so the sound is extremely warm). They are a huge improvement over my previous Klipsch RF-3s.

The only drawback for me is that I don't think the 15"s have enough room to breathe in my listening room (12' x 16' room, placed on the long wall with the listening position about 9' away, with windows behind and french doors to the right). I am not able to turn the volume up on my preamp much past 9 o'clock (1/4 volume) without the mids and highs getting too loud, but the bass just beginning to really kick in. When I added the RSW-10 sub everything filled out perfectly because I could tinker with the low end settings. A lot of other 'Goners don't use a sub at all with the Cornwalls, so again I think it's just my quirky room.

I highly recommend the Cornwalls. I have a friend who has a way more expensive VTL preamp and amp setup, but he always wants to come over to listen at my place because of the speakers.

Happy listening!

You have a nice system. I have the Oppo BDP 83SE and an MMF 5 w/ Maestro wood. Currently using Quad 22L2s. I would like your opinion about the Klipsch Cornwall IIIs. How is the soundstage depth? Also is the midrange & treble smooth? Does the 15" woofer give you taut tuneful bass?

System edited: I thought I was done, but I now realize this is not a hobby, it's an obsession. Added the PerfectWave DAC with network Bridge. This is a really fun toy.
