7/16 base and top plate.dull spikes on bottom,sitting on granite surface plates.elastomeric decoupling on top for monitor decoupling/no vibration here.no column ringing;but the columns will be filled with dense material(high mass)these stands weigh over 60 pounds each(empty)i am expecting a long service life from these as the welding beads and penetration is quite good.i sprayed a nice flat black;as powder coating would be a waste of good money,IMHO
