Description

I have been fiddling with this for 40 years or so. Have owned Acoustat, Rog ers, Advent, multiple B&W, modified tube Dyna, Carver, FMI, Janszen, SME, Shure, and other forgotten stuff. This setup is by far the best I have owned.

This system is in a 18x23x9' room with a deep rug, but no other treatment. Bass traps would improve the sound, as the only flaw I can hear at this point is bass overhang when playing at loud levels.

This system is flat from 20-20khz. It will play at 99 db average at the listening spot, with room for peaks. Imaging is outstanding but accurate, in other words, the image will match what is on the recording and vary. I can tweak the frequency response easily with the ARC 2 software. Sometimes I will lower the 2khz octave by a db or 2 to make some recordings sound easier on the ear and give the system that "audiophile sound". Remote control is by WiFi with the JRiver Gizmo Android app. I've more recordings on my hard drive than I could ever listen to!

I've owned and heard hi-end systems of various types, including very costly ones, and they (mostly) sounded excellent. I'm sure that most of the other systems listed in this forum sound excellent as well. This is a different approach (I am an engineer and musician), and does the trick for me.
