I think I'm getting pretty close to perfection.

Recently replaced my beloved Proac Response 3.5s with the Merlins with good success. While initially bright sounding, I am starting to appreciate the extreme high resolution of the Merlins. I am finding that even small tweaks (eg. toe-in, tilt, spacing) make an enormous difference.

Also changed cables from Synergistic Resolution Reference to Cardas Golden Reference. Substantially removed the brightness from my first setup - no more headaches!; slightly less airy sounding (but I expect this to resolve itself with more time for the GRs to break in).

Considering changing speaker cables to Golden Reference as well because I find certain material (rock, hip hop) sounds a little "fat" in the bass at times. That said, I listen mostly to jazz, and most CDs sound delightfully liquid with the Golden Cross.

Any thoughts?
