Description

My goal is to obtain a realistic soundstage (very large, very high and deep) but, even more, the possibility to reach emotion when I listen to music. Kharma loudspeakers are my last upgrade and they gave me a lot of things in the way I was looking for. My ambient is dedicated to my system and mesures 7x5x2.8 mt.: the sound is correct without any particular treatment.

Is the Odyssey much better than the Gyro?

System edited: I recently introduced a new preamp to my system, a beautiful souding Spectral dmc-20 s2 with a much better phono module compared with the C-2200. The cables are Faber's Cables: they are mede in Italy from a friend of mine and the match perfectly with Spectral gear. I prefer them to the MIT 750.

Hi Marrk, you can find informations about my stands to the following link:
www.musictools.eu/prodotti/alica.html
It's an italian product but I think they have an international distribution.

Thank you Chad, I like my room too. I'll update very soon my system with new pictures: now I listen with an amazing Spectral dmc-20 phono balanced and new hand made cables; I also bought a Kuzma Stabi with Stogi arm that looks like your Sota.

Thank you Glen, I dedicated plenty of time to this room in order to obtain a good acoustic response without adding tube traps or something like that.
The box with the two towers in the middle of the turntables is the step-up Uesugi 5 Bros L: I utilize it with the Lyra Argo. A really good piece of gear!

Luigi

Great gear, classy room to enjoy it in.....you git it all man, very Very nice!

Very, very nice. What is the small box in the middle of the turntables? Is is a transformer, for one of them? Always great to see a system set up so well in a room where music can be center stage. happy listening Glen

Hi C, I personally like very much the new Lyra Argo i matched with the UESUGI 5BROS: the sound is open, very wide, full of air and very detailed.
The PhaseTech P3 is warmer and a little bit rounded and needs very high mass arm to track very well.
Now I'm using a Benz Glider L with the pre phono PP1T9: the response is very "flat", apparently with less dynamic compared with the other cartridges but I can listen to it for a very long time without fatiguing.

Ron, sorry for my delay in the answer.
With the Kharma 3.2 I got many improvements: first of all, the bass is more controlled and more equilibrated with the medium higs.
The soundstage with the Kharma is much much better, it's wider and deeper and the loudspeakers really disappear.
Sonus Faber Cremona is a good loudspeakers but it's too coloured I think that the small Cremona Auditor are better); Kharma represent a step forward to enter in the hi-end world.

luigifava

Luigi,

I noticed that you used to use Sonus Faber. Could you please tell us what improvements that you get from using Kharma?

Ron

Beautiful system. I am currently looking for new analogue, what do you think about the various cartridges you added?
Thanks,

Hi, yes I tried to connect the mcd-201 directly to the mc-252 or the mc-275: it sounds great, much better than any other cd with the volume control I tried in my system.
Frankly speaking, I consider the sound trough the pre mc-2200 another world! More finesse, more air, more space...really amazing.
If you listen to the mcd201 + mc252 only you could say.. "wow, very nice sound!" but don't try the 2200 in the middle...otherwise check if your pocket is full enough!!! It'll be very difficult to come back again.
Kind regards,
Luigi

Your system looks fantastic Luigi! Have you tried feeding the MCD201 directly into the MC252 amp? If I remember correctly, the MCD201 has a volume control and was designed to bypass the preamp. Let me know how your system sounds with and without the C2200. Thanks and enjoy the music!

Thank you Ken. I'm really satisfied about this sound and I can choose two different approach to the music reproduction using McIntosh or Spectral gears.
The Kharma 3.2 are very transparent speakers and I enjoy very much the fine tuning.

Luigi

Very nice! That's quite a system. I can imagine how good it sounds with the excellent McIntosh gear as well as Spectral components.Congratulations on a very well designed and aesthetically beautiful looking system.
