Description

I have been building and improving my stereo system since 1968. Heathkit and Dynaco, Audio Research electronics and Magnaplanar speakers have been highlights since early on. Comments and recommendations welcome. Cost effective changes most welcome. I will be looking at improving/replacing digital source components next.

Try a Core Audio digital server. Ryan has great customer service and makes a very clean sounding system for about $3500. Know that the computer has a fan and it is not silent. I keep it in another room. There are also some sort of rough around the edge things such as a fan held in place with double sided tape, and the Aluminum chassis is kind of thin. But, sonically I think the thing kick butt. It really sound full and true to the music. He deletes a bunch of windows code and installs J River. When you turn it on and off it only takes about 10 seconds to be fully up and running. Also get it loaded with Spotify. Open that door and you will find all sorts of new music. Once you start using it you will never touch a CD again.
