I've just recently caught the audiophile bug and this is my slowly evolving system built from a mid-fi system. I've been quite pleased with the Proac/Superamp combination, however the rest of the system needs work. I just built the foreplay and I'm rather enjoying the DIY/modding aspect so replacing the pre isn't a priority. Nontheless, any recommendations for a replacement? I've heard that the AE-3 doesn't necessarily mate well with the Superamp. True? The source is decent, compared to a sony 9000es it is just slightly less detailed and dynamic. Considering uprgrading, a used SCD-1 or 777es? The priority now, however, is cabling. I have one Blue Heaven IC, the rest is forgettable. I like the Nordosts detail and articulation, but the balance is a little tipped up for my taste. Recommendations for inters and speaker wire? I've been considering Harmonic Tech, Analysis plus, and Cardas. Thanks!
