Description
A nice full, or what some refer to as warm, sounding system. I listen to mostly analog. 90% jazz, and blues.
As most of what I listen to, is small ensembles, I don't require a huge speaker, nor a lot of power. Soundstaging, tonal colors, and resolution, in that order, is my listening priorities.
When I say soundstaging, I simply mean the ability to present the recording as a performance, not as two speakers. Tonal colors as not thin, washed out, or flat. Resolution to me is decerning the difference between size of cymbals struck, tamborines, etc, by their decay, impact, and length of their decay
I also want to find a tube DAC, that performs as well as the Alpha, (found it)which was virtually given to me, in trade. I keep looking for a promising kit, but all I have built, don't come close to the resolution, or dynamics of the Alpha
I think my system will always be evolving, because I will always be looking for state of the art sound, at real world prices. Though my system might have retail prices that would put it's cost in the thousands of dollars, I think I assembled it for not too much outlay, for the enjoyment it brings me. It would bother me, if it cost more that my car. I have been in this hobby for over 40 years, and I am still a cheapskate. But I must admit, I would never go back to listening to my system, the way it sounded before the Nordost cables. I happened to aquire them for a song, but now that I know what a difference they make, I'm hooked. BUT!!!
