Description

Took 12 years to complete. Currently using a total of 10 jitter filters all connected with 75 ohm cables with BNC connectors. Every filter helped as did the Black Cat Veloce, Stereolab XV Ultra and Wywires S/Pdif cables. Sound is fabulous with 3D imaging and outstanding clarity. Huge jump in tranparency in the last few months with Twisted Pair Audio jitter filters and Black Cat Streolab and Wywires digital cables.

Any updates to anyone in the business devoted to the lost art of high end car audio?

I am thinking of buying or building a rally car for winter commuting, and would love to know if anyone could help without neon, subwoofers or custom spinner rims.

Thank you,

Ahh, I am aware of the rear mounted battery as I have a '99 M3. What do you think of the acoustics of these cars? I'm only using the stock Harmon Kardon set up which is fine for me.

The system is installed in a BMW 323. These cars are handy for car stereos as the battery is mounted in the trunk.

That sounds so sweet!

I bet you get a lot of curious looks from both home audiophiles and car enthusiasts. The people like us probably think, "you put that stuff in a car?". And the car people must wonder, "what is all that stuff?"

I've never heard of the Class A 5.0, I mistakingly thought you were referring to the Class A 50 which was 25wpc running in class A, along with the D100 and D200 were the only Soundstream amps at the time.

I forgot to ask, what kind of car are all these goodies in?

The Class A 5.0 is about 6 years old putting 500W into the 1 ohm Eclipse sub. The D200 is a Series II, so it is about the same as your D200.

The Theta DAC, Monarchy DIP and Assemblage are 110V powered by a Radio Shack inverter. All of the Theta TLCs are connected to the 12V.

Sorry, I do not own a digital camera and do not have any pictures.

Nice system!

I had no idea that nice pieces like yours were still available for non-"thumper" type systems.

I got into car audio in the mid '70's when Fosgate and Zapco amps, and Hart speakers were about the only things around. I got out in the late '80's after having a couple systems stolen and never being satisfied with anything I put together.

I was running an all first generation Soundstream and Monolithic system in the mid 80's, and I still have a milk carton filled with my ex-boss's first generation early '80's Nakamichi gear.

I was gonna inquire about the Milbert tube amp, but CW beat me to it. Are the Class A 50 and D200 older amps or newer versions? At one time I was running a D200.

DH Labs, Illuminati, Theta, Assemblage? Are these all home pieces adapted for the car? Are you using a power convertor and multiple battery isolators?

Most important of all, do you have pictures???!!!!!!!

Nice job!

Can anyone suggest a car audio dealer-installer with high-end sensibilities in SF Bay Area?

(Sorry for the topic drift.)

Check out innovative audio in Bellevue WA for high end car audio installs...Sweeeeeet system...I used to be into car audio & I'm sure that your system would smoke any wannabe high end stock system...i.e Mark Levinson in the Lexus...it sounds awful in my opinion

Fantastic!

Since the tweaky days of car audio in the 80's, I have yet to hear a car system that didnt sound like it could cut glass. But it looks as if you have set the new standard.

Further to high end car audio, I was unable to find the old threads in the archives. Does anyone have any experience with the Milbert tube amps for the car? Or working on a Porsche 993 with subwoofers near the rear "seats"?

Are there any genuinely high end car audio dealers?

cwlondon

I'd like to A-B your system with the Linn system in my Aston.

That Picasso is a honey of a class "A" amp! Hope that you are driving your tweeters with it!
