Description

This is my first attempt to build a true home theater / 2 channel audio system. Almost 3 years ago I was seriously injured at work and haven't been able to work because of that.  I have spent the past 3 years having multiple surgeries and I started struggling emotionally. I have always dreamed of building a system and building this gave me purpose and being able to sit and listen to Tool, Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd etc.. really lifted my spirits and allowed me to forget about the pain and struggles.

There are a few things I plan on replacing but for the time being I am extremely happy with how it sounds. I do need to upgrade all my cables as they are just basic cables from Amazon (MediaBridge). I also plan on upgrading my receiver to a true pre/pro and upgrading my subs to JL audio, Rel or Svs.  I would love everyone's opinion on any upgrades or tweaks I can make. Thank yall for looking.

Thank you so much Scott! On the 17th of November I'm having my right shoulder replaced and will be rehabbing hard core so I can get my life back together and start working again.  Lol I am sitting here already trying to figure out what new equipment I'm going to buy with those first checks! I have told my wife that I plan on finishing up my 2 channel and movie system and she gave me the thumbs up. Kicking back to some Floyd and puffing sounds like a great idea!

Hang in there Bro I'm dealing with many surgeries myself music has helped me cope as well. The pain will pass Rehab hard to maximize range of motion. then Smoke a dube and put on Pink Floyd and chill things will get better.

No worries. Thank you so much. We'll when it comes to 2 channel systems do deferential amps really make a difference or are there better ways to use the money and just keep my 2 channel amp and run balanced xlr cables ?

Hey CV sorry I am a two channel guy all the way no processor experience. But you should start a thread over in the forums you'll get lots of advice there. Good luck!

Thank you so much for that.  This has definitely been an interesting experience. There is something so relaxing about sitting in the " captains chair" laying back and following the rhythm of a great song.

Would you have any suggestions on a processor? In have read how much better a system can sound when going to separates and have experienced it myself when it comes to 2 channel listening.  Being able to do an A/B test I noticed that the separates seemed to open up more.  The sound stage was wider,  music clearer and more dynamic.  My budget will be around 3k for the processor and I plan on buying a fully differential 3 channel amp from Emotiva for the front 3 channels.  I thought about buying their XMC-2 so I can keep everything sonically matched plus I am a little OCD and like things to match.  I have looked into Anthem, Marantz, Yamaha or McIntosh even though the McIntosh will be used due to price.

Congratulations on your system! Looks like a great combo music/HT system! Sorry about your accident derailing your life and glad to hear the music is helping!
