Description

Dual purpose room with stereo equipment on one side and hockey practice equipment on the other. Heavy drapes hanging in between kills the sound so the soundstage isn’t abnormally large.
A soffit runs the distance 2 feet before listening position. The basement was unfinished and still a work in progress. Another 600sqf to incorporate yet.
There is a 75” screen between the speakers. I like video games. But for serious listening it gets covered.
S.M.S.L headphone amplifier. A few sets of cans, my go to at home are V-Moda M100 Master closed back. Very studio.
I have tried to dampen my room as much as possible without it being inert. It used to have the ugly commercial foam block. This is better.
I use the CX-81 as a preamplifier. It can’t drive the ATCs. The Rotel has the sound I love. I’m a solid state fan. I went through a few before settling. 200w is the minimum but also a higher current capacity for those 3.1 ohm dips at 48hz. Not the worst, I’ve owned some reference KEFs lol. I was also looking for a touch of warmth. Whatever that means. I tend to listen to House and Jazz. Both can be harsh in that upper range. I listen loud 85db+ and the synergy with amp and speakers is good. I want a better (actual) preamplifier. Soon.
There is always a giant fluffy dog in the room. Cleaning is weekly.

“My peaceful corner of the universe” is the best caption I’ve seen. Great looking system with listening partner.
