Thanks for your question. No, the speakers work extremely well in my small space. I do not play at loud volumes, but with this setup, I don’t sacrifice anything. Bass is clean, natural, and very well defined —not overwhelming at all. I was concerned about this from the start, but no issues. I think the front end is a big part of it. Cheers!
A follow up question. Do the speakers tend to overwhelm the room with the enormous bass potential of the liliums? Even they could be tone down but still it's a concern I have my room is 17 x 21 with 8 foot ceiling. Otherwise I think they're wonderful
Thank you for your Great reply. That's quite an investment in subwoofers. Not sure I understand how the mids and highs are reinforced but it's interesting.
The radiator Driver on top of the Lillium is interesting and in itself you would think that would provide all kinds of benefits. I have a 14 x 21 size room and would be using this majority time for home theater.
Emergingsoul: It’s hard to convey how good the Liliums are. As good as the Amati G5s are, they are not in Lilium’s ballpark. Can’t say enough good things about them.
Your sub question: I agree not a conventional set up. Liliums have 3 settings for bass. In this set up, I keep them in the lowest setting. The Rel line array actually enhances the mids and highs, as well as the sound stage. They give the entire frequency range a solid foundation so that each note, vocal, string, rim shot, snare hit, cymbal strike, piano note (the entire musical spectrum really) has a realistic sense of weight ,solidity, spatial element, and definition. The low end is tight, fast, and articulate. The exact opposite of what you might expect. Hope that answers your question!
This is not a typical set up with all the subwoofer emphasis. Given the room size it would seem the liliums would in themselves overwhelm the room with bass. But somehow it seems to be working and just curious about this.
Curious to know your thoughts on why you pursued all the enhanced sub activity.
I have MC 901s and was thinking about the Liliums.
I think you’re right about how the drivers smooth out room noise. I don’t have your technical background, but it makes sense and certainly explains what I’m hearing. You have some remarkable systems, btw!
Beautiful system. I've always loved the craftsmanship of the upper-end Sonus Faber speakers.
I agree with you on the sub arrays. I have woofer towers with four 12" servo controlled drivers for each channel, and the bass is the smoothest and tightest I've ever had. I think the multiple drivers at different distances from the floor smooths out the room modes, and allows each driver to do less work and operate with lower distortion.
dtorc, no DSP. It might seem counterintuitive, but the Rel line array actually improves the mids and highs without adding any thudding bass. Overall, the low end in this system is clean, lifelike, and fast. Absolutely no bloat or boominess. The bass is balanced and not exaggerated at all. Very minor room treatment. Thanks for asking!
I'm curious - do you use DSP to help arrange all those bass notes being generated by so many woofers - sub and otherwise? Does it ever overwhelm the room, or did you luck out with a great room, or great skills?
