System edited: I added the Weiss DAC because I wanted a really good DAC and seemed that to me. Also, I broke my old cartridge trying to clean it so I thought I'd move to a MM to see how it would sound.
I wasn't slighting the Focals in anyway as they are great speakers, just replying to your comment 'I want to love these guys more. They are good but a bit bright and sometimes make me grind my teeth.' I'm not sure how your using your Arcam DAC...with music on a computer? I should let you know that I really admire your system.
Mcjmt I have indeed heard the b&w speakers and they are great. Simply put, the store I went to when I first got into audio sold Focal and so I became loyal to that brand. As to which is better, I figure they're both quite good. Regarding the sa-60, it is fantastic I think. Unfortunately, I'm only able to use it with discs as the dac within is not usable elsewhere. Also. I really like the wireless usability of the arcam. Thanks for asking.
Jamiek, You have a really great system, yes a really superb system! Isn't the SA60 still a good unit by todays standard or is the DAC just that much better? I've heard B&W speakers w/ Mac and there is superb synergy. Have you considered the 801 or 802s? I save my photos as .jpg on my computer and have never had problem uploading them.
Wow anyhow, but for this to be your 1st home system. More than wonderful. Have the McIntosh MA6600, simply find it awesome. Congrats on your MA7000, great anchor for many fine components. Happy listening.
