Description

Tried many DACs but kept going back to the Yamaha.  Only DAC I preferred was the T+A Dac200 and I would have had to get all new cabling if I went that route and I'm super happy with how it sounds as is.  About to add more acoustic paneling but just have the two gik diffuser panels right now.  Love this system for everyday listening

1. The wiim is overall pretty nice.  I am interested in testing it vs a higher end one or with the Teddy Pardo power supply to squeeze more performance out of it, but so far it does well.  Using Coax from it to the Yamaha, just a Blue jeans cable.  Also considering eventual upgrade there as well to a DH Labs or Kimber.

2. Wiim DAC sounded meh to me compared to yamaha.  More "etched" and harsh and less open than the Yamaha.  I also like running dual subs out of Yamaha to take the sub frequencies off the amplifier and tektons and didn't want to deal with running a splitter out of ultra so this was compared just with towers running on each.  And in that case, the Yamaha won.  The T+A DAC 200 I tried crushed but I felt I would have needed new cabling too to match the quality and didn't want to go down that rabbit hole.

Would love to try an innuos pulsar or the T+A Symphonia integrated at some point.  Or maybe even an eversolo z10 or a wiim with upgraded power supply to compare.  Thanks for asking and happy listening!
