This is my second system in a room where I am supposed to be studying something, but I am usually just sitting in my chair staring out the window with nothing in particular going through my head.
I had a left over Bryston integrated amp from my first hifi (which is in my living room:
2 channel simplicity), and used it as a start for a vinyl + Apple Music system. I wanted to keep it reasonably simple, and I think for the most part, I am there. Five boxes, if you include the iPad.
Originally I used a pair of KEF LS50 Metas because the room isn't large, but swapped them out for the Gallos from my living room hifi when I did some comparison listening. My living room system doesn't get up close listening, mostly listening from across the room, and for light music when we have friends over. The Gallos are very good with detail, dynamics and reach, and it was the detail that had me swap out so I can listen to music through them near field.
Another reason was that the array on the Gallos is lower than the driver on the Metas on their stand, and my chair is very low to the floor, so the Gallos are closer to ear level.
I still need to work on speaker placement in the room.
