Description

My living room system has evolved a lot over the years. Currently I have Omega single driver speakers driven by either Line Magnetic or Alan Eaton SET amp, with various sources selectable via a passive preamp for the Alan Eaton. I use Roon a lot in this system but also play SACDs and CDs and LPs when the mood strikes. I’ve got the gear placed on a small coffee table and a small marble top table I had that used to hold a plant. I think it looks unobtrusive in the living room but YOUR wife may disagree. I only have to suit myself!

    • Omega Speaker Systems Super Six XRS Alnico
Got these from a local in trade for an amp. They are circa 2008 and I love them in this system.
    • Alan Eaton 45 SET stereo amp
I had Alan Eaton 45 monoblocks, then a stereo version, and finally this stereo version in red with globe 45s. My third Alan Eaton is my favorite. Sounds perfect with the Omega speakers.
    • LUMIN T2 Streamer DAC
This streamer/DAC does a great job and I rarely flip the stream over to the Aqua Acoustics DAC. I use Roon but the LUMIN software is good too. The T2 can handle up to 512 DSD files.
    • Line Magnetic LM-518IA
Another SET amp used in this system, 22 watts out of 845 tubes.
    • Technics SL-1200GR
My first direct drive turntable. Bought this when it first came out and have really enjoyed it. I’m using an Ortofon LH4000 and 2M Black cartridge.
    • Luminous Audio Technology Axiom II
Multi-input passive preamp for use with the Alan Eaton 45 SET amp so I can connect multiple sources
    • Ortofon 2M Black
Moving magnet cartridge. I’m using an Ortofon headshell too.
    • PS Audio GCPH Phono Preamplifier circa 2006
Very versatile phono pre I picked up used a few years ago and have used with various cartridges both MM and MC. Has a volume control.
    • Marantz SA-11S2
Older SACD player circa 2009 that also plays redbook CDs beautifully. Has a copper-plated chassis.
    • Aqua Acoustics La Voce S3
R2R Dac used with my CD transport and sometimes with my LUMIN streamer
    • Audiolab 6000CDT
    CD transport
    • REL Acoustics Classic 98
The REL sub helps all my music from whatever source sound great. I was using an older REL Storm III but I prefer this new model.
    • Ensemble Isolink
Swiss-made power conditioner I’ve owned since the mid 90s. My Lumin and my Aqua Acoustics DAC are plugged into this one.
