Description

Who needs more than $1500? Only people who don't have a friend that has been in the business for decades. Thanks Frank Alles. All I need is a Signal Ultra Double Run speaker cable. Then it is tweak time. This is my very first system. The first thing to replace once I pay off my car is my preamp with either a Sonic Frontiers SFL-1 or Parasound P/LD 2000.

Components Toggle details

    • Acurus A-100
    The piece that started it all. I really don't know much about it.
    • Acurus ACD-11
    Acurus' wallet refreshing piece.
    • Hafler DH-110
    Great sounding inexpensive classic with good midrange. Weak in treble. No gold connects.
    • Magnepan MMG
    Super bang for not so much buck in the speaker world. They suck power but are very, very fast. Subwoofer is a must.
    • Acoustic Research AR-S112ps
    All you need to add some extra kick.
    • Monster Cable M1000i
    Preamp -> Amp
    • MIT ZapChord
    CD Player -> Preamp
    • MIT Terminator 2
    Will suck the brightness out of the sun.
    • Signal Cable Digital AC High Current
    Quite possible the best digital power cord available. Harmoniously attatched to my ACD-11.
    • Signal Cable MagicPower AC Cord
    Beefy and flexible.
    • Chinese 16 Inch Bicycle Tube
    Under my preamp to help midrange and cut into treble.
    • Hardwood Redwood Blocks
    Cheap do it yourselfer. Try all 100+ flavors.
    • Syncros Carbon Fiber Tube
    Taken off of a bicycle seat tube. Magical in just about everything. Five bucks to friend.

Hey Eric,

You're welcome! I'm glad you are happy with your system. I have to admit, it sounds very good. But just to clarify, I am not, nor have I been "in the business". I've been an audiophile for over 30 years and I write audio reviews, but that is not the same as being in the biz.

Enjoy Your Music!
Frank
