Description

Hi !

This is my System.

I listen primarily to Music (Stereo), but i use an AVR, so I can also watch films and have a little "Surround" (4.0, two little speakers in the Back)

The Strength of my System is virtually unlimited dynamics, very low THD

Very accurate and detailed sound image

Great stage, precise positioning of the musicians

Also quiet (apartment) the speakers realize already an impressive sound experience

The Bass-Units are active, so the bass can be optimally adapted to room and listening habits using a DSP.

Weaknesses:

The room. :-/

I am currently a student and I live in a 2 bedroom apartment,

In a larger room, the box would play differently.

In the future I will change a little bit of room acoustics, especially the door needs to be adjusted first to the Reflections of the ribbon tweeter to slow a bit.

The Speakers:

The mid-high speaker - sections are connected via a conventional but simple passive crossover network to the AV receiver.

The pre-outs on the AVR run in the DBC12. Here the DSP adjusted the sound to the room and runs via Y - cable into each of the XTZ amplifiers. As a result, for each of the 4 bass units, a single channel is avaailable.

The speaker enclosures are made from 28mm HQ-MDF with many bracings. The feet and the terminals are hand made from solid stainless steel from a fellow professional mechanic.

The paint is applied by a fellow professional varnisher.

The crossover is due to the optimal interaction of the midrange speakers with the ribbon tweeter a 12 db Network and mostly built with Mundorf-Parts.

I'm afraid my English is a bit rusty, but if there are any Questions feel free to ask :)

I'm also happy about tips or any advices.

Greetings, Hendrik

Hi Hendrik,

Yes, the Rega Planet 2000 is a nice player. Below is the path Doug Schroeder went through during his searching for analog-like CD player

1st Rung: Ah! Njoe Tjoeb 4000 with Upsampler

3rd Rung: Rega Apollo

5th Rung: Rega Saturn

6th Rung: Ayon CD-1

8th Rung: Cambridge Audio Azur 840C

9th Rung: Ayon CD-2 and Now an extension needs to be added to the ladder…

13th Rung: PS Audio Perfect Wave Transport/DAC

15th Rung: Ayon CD-5

Just for your reference.

Also I like your Triptychon speaker. Is it difficult to assemble the components.

System edited: Hi there! I just replaced my AVM CD Player with a british one. It's the well known REGA Planet 2000. It's really fun listening to music with this astonishing player. It sounds mory like Vinyl than cd. Definitely a recommendation for Audiogons who want to try a more "analog" sounding CD Player

System edited: Hi! I sold my Sony Bravia LCD TV in order to buy a 92" Canvas and an Epson TW 6000. Now the Screen size fits to the Sound! :) Have a look at the new Photos! Greetings, Hendrik

Hi!

Thanks for your commendation!
The Speakers are DIY, an enhancement of the "Triptychon"-Kit by Blue Planet Acoustic. ( http://oaudio.de/Loudspeaker-DIY-kits/Triptychon-Serie/Triptychon-activ-Kit::640.html )
These Speakers are indeed extraordinary, i love their reproduction of music.

This AVR (The Marantz Sr 7005) is my third Marantz Avr (sr 4600, sr 6003), (therefore I had Kenwood and Yamaha)
I would say it's a very audiophile device, but the best Marantz Avrs are still the "Sr 8002" and of course the powerhouse itself, the "sr 9600"
When you don't need the latest Audyssey, HDMI 1.4 and stuff like that, these AVRs are in my opinion the best buy. Heavy weight, copper Chassis, turoidal Cores -> very high quality Audio Components and a great music performance.

I'm from Germany.

Greetings, Hendrik

Very impressive system. I've never heard the speakers, but they look like they are incredible. I'm thinking about a new AVR. Are the Marantz receivers audiophile?
Incidentally, what country do you live in?
