System edited: Room treatments are finally done and we enclosed the open side and added a pocket door....getting close to taking myself out of "Ever Evolving" listing....TT and phono stage have to be done first though.....
Hi Art, I stumbled upon your system while looking up info on Marigo's digital cable.
Per our previous emails about the CEC TL51X transport, I had mine modded to the max by RAM. I also had them do the Audiocom four clock and other mods to my Musical Fidelity XDAC.
After about 500 hours to break everything in, the difference is staggering. The fully modded CEC is night and day different than the stock unit.
IMHO, lightyears better. I could use a lot of audiophile words to try to fully explain it, but to sum it up in as few words as possible, I'd just say it sounds more "REAL" than any other set-up I've ever heard.
At the end of the day, it just gets things right.
Assuming you still have yours, you may want to look into the RAM mod. It is a bit pricy, at $1,900 for the full mod. All the info is available on their web site.
Also, your system looks very interesting, can't really comment further, because I'm not really familar with those pieces.
Those are prototypes of Danny Richie at GR Research new speakers, Danny was the designer behind the Epiphany line. Called LS-6, I'm actually getting the larger LS-9. They'll be sold through AV123 (Mark Schifter) and they are astounding, beat out some very high dollar speakers I was considering.
Thanks for the compliment, I am very happy with where the system is now, it sounds incredibly lifelike in every way. Next is building some tube traps so I'll update when I have those done.
System edited: Added the Adona rack, very nice stuff. Also room treatments from 8th Nerve and Acoustical Solutions. New gear will be here in the next couple of weeks, so stay tuned!
Only put them in last night. They are very different, each it's own kind of excellent. I'll be tweaking positioning all weekend but the first few hours of the Dunlavy's sounds heavenly....
Looks very clean too, nice setup. I would guess your system sounds good with a wide range of music types. How do you like the Flavor 4's on your monos?
