Comments? Ideas for upgrades? Thinking of adding something to reduce jitter between the (admittedly crappy) transport and the DAC. Also thinking of upgrading the DAC to upsample to 96KHz. This worth it?
You might think about a better digital source at this point. That Creek should be pretty delightful if it's playing good bits. I was very happy with a used California Audio CD player. The Icon MK II and the DX-2 are both well regarded, and available used for less than $500, sometimes much less. Have fun.
Pug is definitely on the right track, Creek is wonderful when coupled with Epos, Harbeth, Proac two way monitors. Also, Toshiba fugettaboudit, use it for watching videos. Anything that's mid-fi; Arcam, Parasound, Audio Refinement and a dozen others would be better.
Just out of curiosity, how sensitive are the Stratus Silvers and what is their impedance? I'm wondering whether you might need more juice from a higher-powered amp to make your speakers really sing.
