Description

this room and system is the result of 10 years in High End audio. my system has been stable for a couple of years (except for transport and amplifier upgrades within the same brand). the room has been in the planning stage for about 18 months and i actually moved in a little over a month ago.

my audio philosphy is to have the system get out of the way of the event. i like as pure and simple a signal path as possible and, at this point, prefer passive to active gain stages. i love all the formats and enjoy having lot's of music.....vinyl is my favorite but i listen to at least 60% digital. the new room really reveals the benefits of SACD over redbook.

the system and room truely allow the event to be recreated before me. i love the way the speakers disappear and i am transported to another place/time.

i have choosen my cables, sources, amps, speakers to have as little of their own sound as possible.

recently, i upgraded my digtial transport from the modified Philips SACD 1000 to the new emmlabs CDSD.....this was a significant step upward in performance.

excellent Mike!...I personally do think that it was worth the effort...unfortunately my isolation stuff did not work to improve....but then again mine was not active or 12k either....but all mechanical and awkward..

good for you now if i can come up with 12k to play with one of these i may give it a shot ...

yup thats a real isolation device you go there mike!...not many good ones..this does all 6 axes :)

I purchased several years ago a mechanical isolation device a real one no BS audiophile crap..it isolated in all 6 axes too with similar specifications...personally i did not like it..for various reasons but one thing i remember stuck out in my mind it made music sound more together but softer more resolution but not more real ...anyways enjoy your new toy

if you would after awhile go back to original ABA if you will... and give us your opinion

Mike thanks for being a good sport!...I thought your speakers were approaching 70k?..alberts 180K...but we both know he didn't or couldn't afford that...anyways looking forward to reading more..... and learning how 180k speaker is the end all be all..LOL

oh yea I totally agree money does not mean fidelity...I am still very fond of my very old speakers... the fulton Premere IMO nothing even comes close... these play music...not talking rock music here... ..remember I listen live and record live venues... I wish more of the people on the forum went and listened live that way they would demand more of the audio manufactures to produce something that sounds like real music instead of this overly bright detailed crap :)

Mike' everyone' your new cartridge plate(gem stone) making your cartridge have a different sound or a lowering of distortion is interesting... I have been testing these crossroads myself.... including the cartridge screws materials... boy can cartridge screws make a HUGE difference...so I would say experiment with them also .... this is a cheaper road that can give you very nice/different results...

Hello just some thoughts...Mike you know that since you have "balanced power" meaning both legs are "hot" you cannot use just plan ol duplex outlets...you need gfi outlets!...if your room burns down and the insurance company finds duplex outlets they will not pay the claim!!

sorry to barge in here mike...Here in the chicagoland area we have probably the best classical station in the country WFMT 98.7...I get a daily dose ..they have plenty of live and pre-recored in there studio music + pipedreams on sunday!! right now they are doing tribute to Sir georg Solti

excellent live feeds that i sometimes attend...IMO its important to hear live music on a regular basis to keep you going in the right direction...unless you just like hifi and are not trying to bring the live musical event to your home...
