I sold my PA2200 a few months ago. After recapping it what was I thinking? Why not just put it in the closet for future use?
Glad you're enjoying your amp again.

FWIW, I have used several class D amps and they never seem to stick around for long.

Shahinian Arcs? Wow.
I saw a pair of those for sale a while back and while i was researching them they were snatched up. Hmmm.
How do they sound? Do they provide all the spaciousness I've read about?

My system current? Nope, not even close. The Mac Mini is the only real piece of equipment in my system.

Maybe I'll update it this weekend...

Hey Andy, I have one of those PA2200s sitting in my bedroom. I got mine a few years ago for cheap on ebay. I recapped it, installed some Cardas binding posts, ran new internal wiring to the binding posts and finally, installed an IEC jack for a detachable power cable. None of this was really necessary, it was mainly done for the heck of it.

I love this amp, just wish it weren't so large.

Those stands look fantastic. Although it took a little floor space, getting the Snells out away from the boundaries must have improved the sound immensely.

Plenty of closet space now that the kids are all out on their own.
I'm a little surprised by my reaction to the Snells. They reveal exceptional detail but have yet to come across as irritating. An important criteria for components in my system is the ability to play poorly recorded music and have it be listenable.
Because of all the positive reviews I have been tempted to try the Benchmark dac, but am pretty sure it wouldn't stick around long.

I've been following your system changes for a while now. Knowing your sonic preferences, it's no surprise you opted out of the Benchmark dac.
I picked up a pair of Snell J7s about a month ago with the intention of selling them pretty quick. Even though I have a couple pairs of "keeper" speakers in a closet, I can't convince myself o let go of the Snells. They are fantastic.

You are really making me want to try a pair of these Snell speakers. I have watched a couple of ebay auctions for the K/IIs and even bid once or twice. Just to see how they sound.
As a previous Dynaudio user, you might be interested to know I'm currently using a pair of Dynaudio 1.3SEs. They are a true hi-end speaker with hi-end sound, The problem is I think I prefer my much less expensive Soliloquy 5.0 monitors. While the Dyns can blow me away with some music, the 5.0s are more relaxing/enjoyable to listen to.

The switch to the Snells is very interesting as the Dyns have a fantastic pedigree. I am in a similar state though. My Kestrels have been compared to much "better" speakers in my room, better being defined as well reviewed as well as more expensive, but they just suit me better.
For me it boils down to the way the Kestrels sound more musical, not mechanical. Great find.

Exceptionally clean looking system there Andy. You have put together a system that must sound as good as it looks. I really like the industrial style cabinet.
You are a brave man leaving the Dynaudio drivers exposed to your two-year-old's curios fingers. :)
