Next week I will visit a client with Spectral gear. I will bring in the Audioquest Redwood 2013 and the 06HD from Olive. I will inform you how it works togheter. The new Audioquest cables also have a very deep and wide stage. But the difference with MIT is a much more palpable and realistic image of the right dimensions of instruments and voices.

I will try to compare. But my doubt is which with Spectral gears, other type of cables are too "open", setting sound too much forward, with respect the scene.
Oracle Matrix 50 is already more open that the Magnum or Oracle V series, and I am not completely satisfied by it.
I am still waiting for complete broken-in phase.

I sold and owned MIT in the past. To be honnest there cables are ok, but Audioquest is a big step further in technique compared to MIT. I recently bought the brand new Audioquest Wild blue Yonder with the new XLR connectors. This pure silver cable is superior to MIT ORACLE MATRIX 50. Silver is more open and faster than copper ever will be. The Audioquest is also superior in what we call 'blacks' this makes instruments more intimate and palpable. Instruments and voices are very small in dimension in real. MIT makes the instruments often too big in proportion. I had conversations about this issue often with a couple of brands in audio. Just try the new Wild blue yonder and compare it.

    I Sbleam,
yes I use special stainless steel floor protection with a wide spike space for a easy set up.

    Paola,

Any special feet/isolation under your Avalons? I have my system setup with a lot of wood floor and considering some type of change to the stock rubber feet ? Herbies, spikes with some floor cover, etc. Thanks!

just added MIT ORACLE MATRIX 50 from BADA to Spectral pre. I am testing but I feel this cable little bit "aggressive" compared to Magnum M1.

The difference is you will get a more open and musical mid freq. The instruments and voices are so much sharper focussed. And the timing and drive is better compared to MIT. The DBS gives you ther best blacks I heard sofar. My 2013 Redwood was even superior in speed and timing than my old Valhalla from Nordost.

    Hi Bobby,
I will follow your suggestion, I will try. Meanwhile, I think Spectral-MIT-Avalon is a solid combo option, but I will try.
Thank you for your suggestion, I'll let you know my impressions.

    Dear Paolo,

a few months ago I sold a Audioquest Oak to a client of mine who Always uses only MIT cables. He also has Avalon speakers. The difference was extreme. Every aspect it did better. In Holland a shop who sells the most Oracle of our country is now also Audioquest dealer. They said: Audioquest is a big step further compared to all there competitors. It is better than MIT at this moment. Wenn you have a possibility.....just try. Nothing more, nothing less.

    Goodluck,

    Bobby

    Hi Bo1972.
I respect your opinion on Spectral-Mit-Avalon combo, but in my case I do not agree with you. I have not a concert room, but we have a "mezza-coda" Petrof dating from the early years of the 1900 (as you can see part of it on one of system pictures). Obviously, I can hear little difference between real and reproduced sounds, but believe me is really subtle.
I think Avalon Eidolon are one of the best speakers in terms of consistency and reality of sound.

    caliaripaolo

I do consulting in sound and vision. And I am in this business since 1998. I sold Avalon and MIT in the past for over 6 years. I know the properties very well. Avalon is a speaker with a very deep stage. Acoustic music in real is very small in proportion and extreemly direct. A friend of mine had a small concert room with a Steynway. Here I learned how small a voice and instruments sounds. All the times I litstend to Avalon with MIT and spectral instruments never are extreemly that focussed as in real. MIT is a brand with the property to make a big and wide stage. But the individual focus is not that sharp. There are brands like Audioquest and Kimber who are superior in individual focus. Many times I showed ( even at shows) that MIT is not a perfect match with Avalon. People have to learn how voices and instruments sounds in real. Wenn you hear a violin in real aor play it with a avalon speakerset you will hear the big difference in sound.

Added an Isolation Transformer (Signal DU-3) for Power Amplifier only. This is a great item.

removed the Quantum Qx2 which I found alter the tonal balance of natural sound of the system.

    hi musicpdx,
yes, I use HiFi Tuning fuses into both Pre and DAC.
I cannot affirm which there is a great difference, but is true which i can hear a more refined and natural sound. You know, it is really subtle but concrete.
Is a tweak which add the last "tune" at the system.
The result depends by the Power cables setup, by the power line (with noise on not), and by more factors. I found it more effective applied on gears where little signals are involved (pre or DAC or CDP).
    ciao

    caliaripaolo

That is an incredible listening space and setup! I noticed you used HiFi Tuning Fuses -- when you added them, did they impart any change in sound? Cheers

    hi Mike,
    Thank's.
Yes the system sounds great into the room. I found which Berkeley/Spectral/Avalon items have a great sinergy.
What is unbelievable for me is the details and refined texture of sound having added the Ridge Street Design Alethias USB cable.
    Beside, I love Avalon sound.

    caliaripaolo

Wow! beautiful! very elegant and wonderful place to listen.

    congrats Paulo.

the Vicoustic wavewood looks like a great addition. and your sense of style is exceptional, bet it sounds great too.

    thank's,
no, I'm not an interior design.
I like actual design and here up to the north of Italy, we have some of main great industries and craftsmen for the furniture.
In the opposite way, the system is overall made in US.
There has not been a project. This is part of a living room and I have adapted my system to the room, only.
i.e.: RealTraps become part of the ambients (same colors of walls).

    caliaripaolo

Beautiful ! Thanks for sharing with us.

you are no doubt an interior decorator....? very beautiful listening space.
did you inherit this place or did you design it ? nice furnishings too.
the stereo is nice also of course (of course, this is Audiogon...).
