This is my dream come true system. It's been evolving since I got into high end audio in the late 1980s. A big part of the system is the listening room with 5/8" drywall and acoustic ceiling. The room is 14' wide by 17' long with 8' ceiling. The amp has a dedicated 20 amp circuit and does the remainder of the components.
This one of the better systems I have seen anywhere. I too listen in the nearfield. To my ears you hear more, the soundstage is more realistic, and because you are not listening as loud and using as much power, the system isn't "shouting" at you. Things sound smoother, less forced, and a lot more natural. I also like the fact that your speakers aren't a mile apart either. I have found that the farther your speakers are apart, the more the images seem to thin out and become less substantial and less three dimensional. Congratulations on your system, I would love to hear it!
