SVS PB12 Plus Subwoofer

It’s with some sadness that I’m selling my SVS PB12 Plus subwoofer. This unit is an absolute animal, I’ve had it since bought new in 2014. Unfortunately it doesn’t fit my current space so I had to downgrade to the SVS PC-2000 Pro (vertical cylinder), and the performance difference is material. Posting it here in hopes that an enthusiast might give her a good home.

This beast of a subwoofer is 130lbs, extremely well-built and versatile as it can operate in either ported or sealed mode. Tons of power on tap, the Sledge STA-800D amplifier puts out 800watts RMS continuous power (2300watts peak dynamic power), enabling this to go as low as 16Hz. It has about double the power and heft of my new SVS sub and you can immediately hear it, and feel it too. 

Having lived in NYC apartments most of its life, I was never able to even remotely test its limits, but I can tell you that it can still pressurize a room at well below reference levels. It was state-of-the-art 10 years ago, and still is now.

Arguably the best part of this posting is that the woofer is only 2 years old. In 2019 a mover put his hand right through the cone. Distraught, I called SVS to tell them my sad story and see if they’d sell me a new woofer. To my surprise, Jeff at SVS and his manager just decided to give me a brand new upgraded woofer as a holiday gift and thank you for being a loyal customer. That’s a $600 value. These guys really know how to treat customers, and that’s exactly why I’ll be one for life. That email receipt will be provided to the new owner of course, this can also be verified by SVS.

Used mostly for home theater, you’d be hard pressed to find any flaws even under bright lights. Cosmetically it’s at least a 9/10. I was insane about caring for the black ash veneer, always keeping it polished/waxed and protected. The veneer is a super high quality and thick, certainly better than what you see on most speakers today, I’d put it on par with my old B&W CDM 1NTs if you’re familiar. Grill is flawless as well. 

Operationally this has never missed a beat. It hasn’t been pushed very hard and I replaced the amp fuse in 2019 when I was replacing the cone just because I had a spare. Always used on a Shunyata Hydra power conditioner and surge protector from day 1.

At 130lbs prior to packing, I’d really rather sell locally. I live near LA, and for the right buyer would drive as far as Vegas in the east, San Diego in the south, or San Francisco up north. I really just want this to go to a good home. If you’d like this shipped, please reach out to discuss with me first  I honestly don’t know if I’m willing to crate this up and protect it the way it needs to be for shipping - I’m not sure I want to be liable for any part of it

This will come with the 3 original foam plugs, power cable, grill. 

I’m asking $850 and think that the buyer is getting a ton of speaker for that. I absolutely believe that they don’t make them like they used to - this came out during SVS’s golden years and was one of their flagship models. You can’t even get this kind of raw output from one of their subs without spending multiples of what I’m asking here.
