Meitner Audio PA6 Preamplifier with Moving Coil Phono Input.

For sale is one previously owned Meitner PA6 stereo preamplifier in fair to good condition.

Cosmetically this unit has some scratches and chips in the wood case but it still presents well and from the listening seat none of the imperfections are really noticeable.

This is a high quality excellent sounding preamplifier made by Ed Meitner of EMM Labs with some unique quirks.

This preamp has a wired remote control unit, and all the controls are on this remote. The cable is long, however (about 20 feet),  and should reach to most listening seats.

This also has high output gain so volume can be loud even at low volume settings. However, you can turn on the mute button which lowers the volume by 10 or more dB and then you have much more range on the volume control dial. Ed Meitner said this is done by design to better match the input impedances of most all amplifiers.

This preamp has a transimpedance phono input for moving coil cartridges. It takes its music signal from the current of a cartridge and not the voltage, presenting the cartridge with a virtual short and eliminating the need for gain loading. It cannot be used with moving magnet cartridges, however.

In addition to the phono input this preamp has 2 line level inputs on RCA and a tape monitor connector using a 5 pin DIN.

Please note that the output RCA connectors are reversed from the inputs. That is the Left output is the top connector and the Right out is the bottom connector.

This unit comes with a separate outboard power supply.

I believe that upgrades are still available for this preamp.
