This is my all out plinth engineered for the 301. The 5 materials used are unique for the 301/401 because the resonant frequencies generated by the large Garrard motor and bearing assembly are unique. This results in an extremely quiet idler drive system.

Standard on all my plinths are stillpoints feet.
There are NO shortcuts on my Garrard plinths.
The motor unit has been extensively refurbished. Everything from the motor itself to the idler wheel. Afterall, the best plinth in the world can't overcome a poor performing motor unit. This particular 301 unit was in very good condition to start with but now it is undoubtedly quieter than when new.
The only item that I would encourage the owner to invest in is a different platter mat. Something we can discuss as there are a few very good options depending on your taste.
My Garrards are known for their powerful and dynamic presentation. The trait I'm most proud of is their seldomly matched speed stability. This speed stability gives a full sound with rock solid imaging, wide soundstages and strong, three dimensional bass.
My 301's deserve the best arm and cartridge combination you can swing. That investment will be rewarded. Please don't think that since the 301 only cost X,
one can't spend more than that on an arm or cartridge.
