JBL 4429 STUDIO MONITOR – Sold as a pair!
12” 3-way Studio Monitor

The JBL 4429 was introduced into the market as the home version of the JBL commercial studio monitor. 

Reviews are hard to come by since this speaker is dated.  It came out in 2012. 

I quote from a review of CNET. 
They quote in their ethics statement:

“Our expert, award-winning staff selects the products we cover and rigorously, researches and tests our top picks.”

They are extremely well constructed, massively, brace internally, and weigh a ton; well, a bit more than 72 pounds each, anyway. Starting with classical music it soon became obvious that the speakers were enormously powerful and capable of producing close to concert realistic levels. Orchestral strings, though they seemed a bit harsh. Then we realized that the likely explanation: The speakers have not been tuned to produce a euphonious sound.  They have been engineered to produce an accurate sound.  They are, after all, called "studio monitors".  Where many modern speakers have a slight mellow quality that smooth strings, these delivered them as they were recorded.

On rock music, the ability to deliver great volume level with welcome as well whatever the style of music.  These provide excellent detail.  These high-end speakers leave nothing to the imagination.  If a digital sample is offset by a single bit due to some subtle sound captured in the mix, you will hear it with these speakers. 

The bottom line: The JBL model 4429 studio monitor Stereo loudspeakers offer for mighty sound levels with extreme accuracy but can be a bit unforgiving of the source.
