New Audio Frontiers (NAF) is a small Italian amplifier company headquartered in Viadana, Italy.  NAF has been building a focussed selection of hand crafted tubed preamplifiers, phono amplifiers, & power amplifiers. Class A / single ended amplifiers are their only focus and they do it exceptional well!

This offering is for NAF's top of the line "Evolution Preamplifier". The condition is very good. This Evolution also includes all original packaging, manual, and tubes. (Tubes are relatively new with < 250 hours.) This is the latest version Evolution!

The Evolution is a purposeful, reference grade 2-channel preamplifier, built without compromise. Finishes on our offering include NAF's two-tone wood cladded metal chassis w/ copper panels. All metal work is hand crafted in beautiful Italian tradition. Powering the line stage is a massive separate power supply. Photos simply do not capture the beauty of NAF products!

Techical Description:

The latest Evolution edition main changes were made to the power circuit and in this case a new pair of separate transformers: one dedicated to the anodic current and the other one for the filaments of the valves. The current is completely rectified with valves with a 5Y3, while on the line signal all the capacitors have been replaced with the most performing Mundorf. It is a Line Preamplifier that has been designed to meet the demands of the most exacting audiophiles; the study of original circuitry and the choice of components of the highest quality make it a point of reference between devices of the category. Meticulous care has been placed in the circuit of high voltage power supply that uses a very high gain error correcting stage based on the use of a pair of 12AX7 which drives a 6CA7/EL34 as power tube. The design of this circuit has been optimized to eliminate any parasitic oscillations and maintain a constant anode voltage and a ripple less than 250 µV.The excellent filtering and the use of circuit voltage regulators provide the DC voltages to the heaters of the left and right channels of the preamplifier.The heart of the apparatus is, however, the amplification stage itself, which uses (for each channel) a first tube 5814 / 5963 / 12AU7 / ECC82 as amplifier followed by a 5687 as output buffer. The originality of the solutions adopted mean that you are before a device that combines the qualities of a sound smooth and enfolding, with the quickness of a very wide dynamic that gives an exceptional sound detail. The fidelity of reproduction is a further feature of the apparatus that helps to enhance the quality. It was reached a percentage of distortion at 1000 Hz of only 0.09% with a bandwidth which remains constant (less than 0.5 dB) from 20 to 50000 Hz and from 20 to 80000 Hz within 3 dB.All this maintaining a background noise absolutely not perceptible thanks to a S/N ratio of 92 dB . These characteristics are the result of a long study design and were detected in the measurement carried out on several specimens using. laboratory instrumentation HP and Tektronix.
