Component History...

Purchased from the second owner in the past year
this Two Box Preamplifier includes the XLR Connected Power Supply. The XLR connectors are affixed to the Power Supply, with the XLR Connector ends to go to the Preamplifier .

Cosmetically...

As with Vintage Audio Components from this era, I was conservative as to rate the Preamp 8/10.
With only a couple of blemishes, none of which are cosmetically egregious, its Art Deco Design was way ahead of its time, with the rounded full width heatsinks being very well thought out, with their design functionality and eye appeal quite apparent.

Operationally...

This very versatile Solid State preamp has both an Input selector Control Knob & Record Selector Control Knob. With two Tape Inputs for unlimited audio recording potential.

* Note: This preamplifier does not have a phono section internally installed.
If the potential buyer is interested, I have a lightly used Demo Pro-ject tube Box DS that I can include for an additional $295... See the photos here , the one I have is all Black...

Having the option of RCA or XLR Inputs for the Power Amplifier, you can see how advanced Sim Audio is, as to having Fully Balanced Component Capability as well...
The Balance and Volume Control Knobs are of the stepped attenuator type.

I have the luxury of being able to use the Sim Audio 4070se Solid State Power Amplifier, and as the photos here show, currently connected to a Mono Pair of Newly Acquired Dynaco MkIII KT-88 Tube Based Power Amplifiers, which have all NOS Tubes. The KT-88's being used are Shuguang Black Treasure Tubes...

The Celeste P4002 solid state preamp was an Audio Chameleon of sorts, having both types of amplification present. The Music has its own Sound Signature pedigree that this Celeste preamp is known for .
Having a number of interesting ears-on listening sessions with both amplifier choices for a good number of hours, via a McIntosh FM Analog Tube or Solid State Tuner, a Tube CD Player, and a Vintage Dual Turntable, this ride down the " Audio Autobahn " was a fantastic one for sure.

The 4070se amplifier, known for the depth and span of its Bass renderings, paired with its Celeste Pre Counterpart, was seamlessly Natural in its presentation. Meaning it dug into the speaker's sound regions without grain or audio congestion in any of the treble, midrange or bass regions.

Paired with the Dynaco MkIII's, with the tubes that occupy them currently, are powerhouses with their 60 wpc .
Black Dark depth in the Bass & Mid-Range, the treble is warm, not strident .
The Dynaco's are like owning a 1955 Custom Street Model Chevy that can hum at low RPM and give you that thrill of zero to 60 when you want it.

Not possessing a Treble or Bass control on the Sim Audio p4002 lets the Amplifiers be who they were made to be. No coloring or shading of the portraying of the music .
Having been an "Addicted Audiophile " type for more decades that I want to admit, the fun part of our "Addiction" is discovering new combinations of Audio Components.
The above I have described here is proof that one does not have to Mortgage the house to have a very good Audio System.
One's set-up is a chain of events that synergy of all components up and down the line, including tweaks, can render surprising Audio outcomes without spending crazy money...lol
